TV isn’t radio with pictures

Video killed the radio star
– The Buggles

TV is its own distinct medium but shares many characteristics of what came before (radio).

The mistake, though, would be to only see these similarities and thus treat a TV show as simply radio with pictures.

The reality is that producing for TV is entirely its own art with its own rules.

Back in the day, radio producers needed to fundamentally change their approach to create content for this new Television medium.

In the same way, the mistake today would be to treat the Web as TV (or radio) with a keyboard.

Merely digitising your art and putting it on a website is the Web equivalent of adding pictures to a radio show.

You can do it (millions do) and it will still somewhat work but this isn’t the highest and best use of the interwebs medium.

Once again, the reality is that producing for the Web is entirely its own art with its own its own rules.

You may find you need to fundamentally change your approach to create content for the Web.

Don’t short change yourself and us by simply giving us TV (or radio) with a keyboard.
