First Principles

Its easy to learn the ‘3 steps to …’ or the ‘5 keys to …’ <insert_lesson_here>.

Its easy to learn the ‘how’ yet never know the reason ‘why’.

The problem is that as the rate of change of learning and technology increases, the ‘how’ gets obsolete at a faster and faster rate.

End result is that you end up learning things that get outdated sooner and sooner.

Many students today will study university degrees that will be outdated by the time they enter the workforce.

Next time you’re learning the ‘how’, better to spend a bit more time to learn the ‘why’ as well.

Make sure you understand it from First Principles so even if the ‘how’ changes, you can adapt because you know the ‘why’.
